Carol C, the Singer:
With a musical style the Los Angeles Times described as “edgier than Sade, but more accessible than Everything But The Girl”, Carol C helped her band Si*Sé gain the attention of David Byrne of Talking Heads back in 2001. He quickly signed them to his Luaka Bop label and took them along as his opener on the Look Into The Eyeball world tour.
Already established in NYC’s music scene as a globetrotting drum & bass DJ and party promoter since before the band’s inception, the success of Si*Sé made Carol C’s vocals, songwriting, and impeccable ear for production high in demand. Collaborations with David Byrne, Thievery Corporation, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Federico Aubele, and The Jungle Brothers, soon followed. Her work with Nickodemus of the popular Turntables On The Hudson parties yielded “Cleopatra In New York”, a huge favorite of chill out, lounge, and world music compilations worldwide.
Though her work with Si*Sé continues, Carol’s solo performance gives audiences a chance to experience something different. A collection of brand new originals, reworked favorites from her diverse body of work, and a few covers will be brought to life in Carol C’s own unique vocal style. Her debut solo album produced by Justin Filmer, mixed by Mario Mcnulty (one of David Bowie's right hand men), and mastered by Bob Power, was released summer of 2019. In 2020 she released the tuareg blues influenced single "De La" as well as "Footsteps"with artist Gitkin on Wonderwheel Recordings. She most recently released "Paradise" with Pimps of Joytime and a new single "Tesoro" with Gitkin in 2023.
She currently resides in New Orleans and has had the honor of playing at Tipitina's, Toulouse Theatre, House of Blues New Orleans, French Quarter Fest, Café Istanbul, Hi-Ho Lounge, and Saturn Bar. She tours as both a DJ and singer with Brooklyn band, Pimps of Joytime as well as with the psychedelic world beat project, Gitkin. With Pimps of Joytime she had the privilege of touring throughout the U.S. with the legendary George Clinton and Parliament Funk in summer of 2022. She more recently had the great opportunity to open for Steel Pulse. Her upcoming gigs in New Orleans include a show with Gitkin at The Rabbit Hole and a special set with Pimp's of Joytime for the famous Mom's Ball annual Halloween event.

Carol C, the DJ:
Carol C was born and raised in New York City. As a little girl she was obsessed with watching the records spin on her portable record player. Fast forward 10 years later, Carol saved up and acquired two Technics 1200 turntables. She honed her mixing skills playing bars and clubs around NYC becoming a sought after open format DJ. Spinning soul, funk, disco, house, latin, world beat, hip-hop, reggae, and edm, Carol has a rare ability to read a room and create just the right vibe.
Some highlights of Carol C's DJ career are residencies at top hotels such as Soho and Tribeca Grand Hotels, Carlton Hotel, and W Hotel Downtown. She has also DJed Special events for Calvin Klein, Ann Taylor, Diane Von Furstenberg, Levi’s, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora, Rimmel London, and Conde Nast.
Notable venues Carol has spun at are Marquee NY, Bed, Lotus, Highline Ballroom, Irving Plaza, Bowery Ballroom, and Cielo, in NYC, as well as The Delano Hotel (Miami), The Standard Hotel (SF), House Of Blues (Nola), Hotel Vitale (SF), Zanzibar (LA), The Conga Room (LA), and The House of Blues (LA). She has been a guest DJ for renown NYC party Mobile Mondays and a resident of Turntables on The Hudson.
In addition to Carol C's work in the US she has moved dance floors internationally in London, Vienna, Reykjavik, Copenhagen, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Venezuela, Brazil, Toronto, and Montreal.
